The Gospel of the Kingdom of God
To the astute observer of world conditions, life and events may appear to have become quite complicated and troubled in our times. With a view on history, though, we must admit that the experience of mankind has proved such complications and troubles to be ever present. For even by the time of the kings of Israel found in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, King Solomon noted that "there is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes:1:9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.).
Nevertheless, with advancements in technology, including the ability to express ideas, philosophies, and even attitudes so conveniently via modern communication, our personal knowledge can be greatly increased on a worldwide scale concerning the present condition of mankind compared to that which was available in the generations that have preceded us.
Can we overcome? Can we hold back and control the fickleness of nature? Can we evolve our view of the value of life on a worldwide scale, so as to avert consequences of an historically proven destructive human nature?
Maybe, just maybe, we need an "intervention" on a worldwide scale. Does this seem a reasonable consideration? But, from where and by whom? Are we, ourselves, the ultimate answer to the problems we face, or is something or somebody with capabilities far beyond the strength of mankind necessary to save us from self-destruction, even, possibly, destruction of all life on earth?
Jesus of Nazareth, revealed in the Bible to be the Son of God, warned his disciples that a time was coming full of great tribulation for all mankind, unlike in any time previously, and unless those days of tribulation were shortened, no flesh would be saved alive on earth. (Matthew:24:22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.; Mark:13:20And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.)
So, although, long ago it was realized that nothing was new under the sun, it is also made clear that a time is coming when the intensity of woes that can be brought upon us will be so acute that, unless snatched from those circumstances, no flesh would be saved alive.
